Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office Retires One K9, Introduces Newest Team Member

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has retired one K9 and introduced their newest K9 team member.

In a social media post, MCSO says K9, Rev, has retired after seven years of service, touting his “vital role in taking narcotics off the street, tracking down multiple subjects who fled from law enforcement, all while keeping officers safe with his presence.”

The message adds that “Rev will enjoy retirement with Deputy Steinberg and his family as he will get to let loose and enjoy being a dog.”

MCSO is also introducing K9, Xena, a 20-month-old German Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois cross from Poland. Xena and Deputy Steinberg have completed their 200-hour K9 training course with Tree Town Kennels and are now certified in narcotics and patrol.

The MSCO post also thanks the community for the continued support and donations towards the K-9 program.

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office is also alerting the public to beware of a scam targeting potential victims with a warning from EZ Pass that you have outstanding toll payments due. The message also adds that if the balance isn’t paid in a timely fashion, you could face penalties or legal action.

This is a scam, do not reply. Report any such activity to law enforcement.
