Busy 24 Hours for Charles City Fire Department, Equipment Funding Approved

It was a busy 24-hours for the Charles City Fire Department from Sunday (04.06) into Monday (04.07) night.
In addition to the fire at Hawkeye Mold and Design Sunday night, Charles City Fire crews were called to a possible house fire on South Jackson Street at about 11 am Monday morning. The situation appeared minor in nature.
About 8 pm Monday night, CCFD and crews from the Floyd Fire Department responded to a possible garage fire in the alley of D Street between Second and Third Avenue. The indecent involved a vehicle on fire.
There were no injuries in either call.
Monday night, CCFD was also part of the City Council’s approval of short-term borrowing of a General Obligation Corporate Purpose loan up to $188,000.
That’s City Administrator Steve Diers, who says other public service items will be covered with the loan, including outdoor siren repair and nuisance abatement.
