FCMC Beam Signing Moved Up 24 Hours to Tuesday (03.18) to Avoid Winter Weather

With Wednesday’s (03.19) forecast calling for the possibility of blizzard conditions, Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) has moved up its “Beam Signing” ceremonies by 24 hours.

FCMC Community Engagement Director Makenzie McNeil says the “Beam Signing,” now scheduled for 3 to 5 pm Tuesday (03.18), will allow the public to be part of the Charles City hospital’s $40 million renovation and expansion project.

McNeil adds that the beam signing also signifies the community’s commitment to FCMC.

The event will take place on the patio by the temporary main entrance. In the event of inclement weather, the festivities will move inside the hospital.

However, McNeil says those who can’t make it Tuesday will still have a chance to sign the beam Wednesday.

The Beam Signing was originally scheduled for outdoors on Wednesday, but the forecast from the National Weather Service in La Crosse is calling for heavy snow and winds of 30-to-40 mph. Thus, FCMC announced Monday (03.17) it would move the event up to Tuesday to ensure the best conditions possible for people to come out and sign the beam.
