Breaking: Pursuit Ends on Luther College Campus, Suspect Apprehended

A Northeast Iowa man is facing multiple drug charges after leading law enforcement on a pursuit that ended at Luther College in Decorah.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says 41-year-old Cody Reisner of West Union was arrested following incidents that began shortly after 11:30 pm Wednesday (02.26) night. Reisner has been charged with a controlled substance violation for methamphetamine, a Class B felony; plus possession of meth – third or subsequent offense and failure to affix drug stamp, both Class D felonies. He also faces one count each for eluding and interference with official acts with bodily injury, both serious misdemeanors, plus fifth-degree criminal mischief. He was also cited for reckless driving.

WCSO says a deputy initiated a traffic stop in Decorah on a SUV, allegedly driven by Reisner, but the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed towards Luther College. As the vehicle entered the campus, the deputy discontinued the pursuit due to safety reasons.

WCSO says Reisner continued through the campus, driving through grass and striking a sign while narrowly missing other objects. After Reisner eventually stopped his vehicle in front of a college building, he then fled on foot.  A short time later, Reisner was located by the WCSO K9 still on the Luther campus after he fell down a hill, suffering several bodily injuries.

No other occupants were located in the vehicle, but meth was scattered in plain view inside the SUV.

The case remains under investigation with additional charges pending.

Decorah Police and Luther College Security assisted in the apprehension of Reisner.
