Crews from Four Fire Departments Battle House Fire in Marble Rock

Crews from at least four fire departments battled a house fire in western Floyd County late Tuesday (01.21) night.
According to a Facebook post by the Marble Rock Fire Department (MRFD), firefighters were called to a house fire at 115 Main Street North in Marble Rock shortly before 10 pm Tuesday (01.21) night and were on scene until almost 4 am Wednesday (01.22) morning.
MRFD says, “The fire had too much of a head start on us to be able to save the house, but everyone made it out safely and there were no injuries to any personnel on scene. There was no damage to any surrounding structures. Cold temperatures also hampered our efforts.”
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, temps at the time of the blaze would have been in single digits between 5 and 10 above zero.
Officials believe there were three people at home along with several pets at the time of the fire. The cause is undetermined at this time, but the home is a total loss.
The Greene, Rockford, and Dougherty fire departments provided mutual aid, with Greene Volunteer Ambulance, Floyd County Iowa Emergency Management Agency, Floyd County Search & Rescue, and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office also responding to the scene.
