With a variety of repairs and upgrades needed, the Chickasaw Event Center in New Hampton is in the fundraising mode.
Board President Chip Schwickerath says they’re facing financial challenges to upkeep the facility, which is only 22-years-old.
Schwickerath says a number of fundraising events have been planned, starting with “Raise the Roof” Tuesday (12.31) night.
The Center receives some financial support from Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, though Schwickerath recently told the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors that amount has been reduced.
He also told Supervisors they were losing another $3,000 a month when the Center still offered The Chassis public transit.
The Chickasaw Event Center also receives funding from Chickasaw County and the City of New Hampton, but it’s not known how much that will be until those municipalities formulate their budgets for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
