Vikings Win Close One

Minnesota Wins Close Game Against Rival Packers

Minneapolis- The Minnesota Vikings pushed their season record to 14-2 with a 27-25 win over their interstate rival Green Bay on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings put up a dominating force through the first three and half quarters before Green Bay was able to draw within two points with 2:20 to go in the game.

The Packers opened the scoring with a field goal late in the first quarter. Kicking was troubling for the Vikings through out the game as Will Reichard missed two field goals, one short and one wide left. There’s additional controversy in the kicking game when Reichard missed another long field goal on the last play of the first half, but a questionable offside penalty game him a second opportunity. Reichard made good on the second chance as the Vikings lead 13-3 at the half.

Late in the game Green Bay found their offensive footing, scoring two touchdowns in the final 6:12. Emanuel Wilson scored from five yards out and Malik Heath caught a 3 yard Jordan Love pass for a touchdown. But it wasn’t enough as Minnesota picked up three Sam Darnold touchdown passes to Jalen Nailor (31 yards), Jordan Addison (18 yards), and Cam Akers (9 yards). Darnold finished the game with 377 yards on a 33/43 and one INT effort. The Packers fall to 11-5 and will face the Chicago Bears at home to close out the regular season. The Vikings will face the Detroit Lions at Ford Field with the NFC’s #1 seed potentially on the line.
