New Hampton School Board Greenlights Football Field Improvements

The New Hampton High School football field is set for a makeover.

The School Board has given the green light to Larsen Landscaping to irrigate the Chickasaws football field and also regrade the surface. Colin Larsen told the Board he has the cost of the project covered completely.

Larsen notes that regrading the field will make it safer for players, with the district also saving time, money and water to upkeep the field, thanks to the installation of an automated irrigation system.

The field is also home to Chickasaws’ soccer, but for the surface to be reworked and reseeded to give the new grass time to grow and be ready for football in mid-August, it’s preferred the process start in early May.  That means three home soccer dates will need to be moved. It will also impact the track and field teams who will be wrapping up their season about the same time.

Activities Director Corey McDonald told the Board he has talked with all the Chickasaws coaches involved.

Larsen says he is confident the field will be ready for the next football season and he will handle all watering, mowing, and fertilizing of the game field next summer to ensure that happens.
