New Hampton “Chain Gang” to be on Sideline at State Football
Championship games of the Iowa High School State Football Playoffs begin Thursday (11.18) at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
While New Hampton won’t be playing, Chickasaw Nation will be represented.
During Monday (11.18) night’s New Hampton School Board meeting, Activities Director Cory McDonald announced that Kristina Manson, Landon Moore, Brian Schmitt and Lanette Pint had been chosen for “sideline participation” for two of the matchups.
Thursday’s Class 1A state title game at 4 pm features two-time defending state champion Grundy Center, winners of 38 straight games, against Dike-New Hartford, looking to avenge their only loss this season, which came against Grundy Center in the season-opener.
In Thursday night’s 7 pm Class 4A championship game, it’s North Polk against Pella.
Thursday’s early matchups include the Eight-Player title game between Gladbrook-Reinbeck and Remsen St. Mary’s at 9:30 am, with the Class A championship game between Tri-Center and defending state champ West Hancock to follow at 1 pm.
Class 2A, 3A and 5A title games will be played Friday (11.22).
