Election Results Certified, Campbell Sworn in as Floyd County Supervisor

The transformation of the Floyd County Board of Supervisors began Wednesday (11.13).

The Board met Wednesday morning to officially canvass and certify results from the November 5th election, which included Boyd Campbell being elected as the new District 3 Supervisor. Campbell ran unopposed in his bid to take over the seat held by Jim Jorgensen, who did not seek re-election.

Jorgensen was appointed to the post in January 2023 after Jeff Hawbaker was elected in November 2022, but then bowed out 10 days later because he said he could not devote the time needed to serve. Since Jorgensen took over as District 3 Supervisor by appointment, he gave up that post following the canvass on Wednesday, with Campbell then sworn into office.

It’s not the only change for the Board, with current County Auditor Gloria set to slide into the District 1 Supervisor seat come January. She ran unopposed to replace outgoing Supervisor Mark Kuhn, who did not seek re-election, with his term ending December 31st.

Second District Supervisor Dennis Keifer will be the lone holdover on the Board to start 2025.

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors will also have one new member in January following their canvass of election results on Wednesday, making Issac Carter the next District 4 Supervisor. The former Alta Vista mayor will replace Matt Kuhn, who did not seek re-election, with his term ending December 31st.

Wednesday’s canvass/certification also made Jacob Hackman’s re-election as Third District Supervisor official. Hackman won a third term by beating challenger Joan Knoll, the former County Auditor.
