Halloween Safety…Be Visible, Be Careful Crossing Streets

Weather should be dry, but cold and breezy for trick-or-treaters Halloween night (10.31).
With the weather likely to force kids into donning a jacket covering up their costumes, it can also reduce their visibility to motorists. To make your ghouls and goblins more visible, Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson recommends reflective clothing, although other alternatives are also available.
Anderson adds that kids also need to exercise caution, especially when crossing streets.
Official trick-or-treating hours Thursday night are from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in both Charles City and New Hampton and from 5 to 7 pm in Nashua.
Trick-or-treaters can head out for candy in Osage from 3:30 to 5 pm through downtown and from 5 to 7 pm in residential areas.
Check with local authorities for times in your community.
