Charles City All-Inclusive Playground Construction to Begin Soon

An all-inclusive playground in Charles City is expected to become a reality in about a month.

That’s Charles City Park-Rec Director Tyler Mitchell, who says Play Pro Recreation of Des Moines will construct and install the playground just west of the tennis courts at Sportmen’s Park.

To help fund the $240,000 project, Park-Rec is still selling customized, Monopoly-inspired “Charles City-Opoly” games. Sales of sponsorships and the game boards themselves are expected to raise around $25,000 towards the playground.  

Mitchell says more fundraising will be conducted down the road to make additional enhancements to the playground.
