LeRoy C. Rover, 86, Charles City

LeRoy C. Rover, 86, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away September 15, 2024 at home surrounded by family.

A funeral service for LeRoy Rover will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Paul Phillips from the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the funeral home on Friday.

LeRoy Charles Rover was born May 15, 1938 in Green, Iowa to John and Minnie (Kusain) Rover. He joined the National Guard in July 1956 where he served for seven years.

LeRoy was united in marriage on February 28, 1960 in Clarksville, Iowa to Sharon Bohner. This union was blessed with one son, Lanny.

LeRoy worked at White Farm Factory for several years before moving on to his passion of farming. He was a dairy farmer for many years.

LeRoy was a master mechanic and skilled in many other trades as well. He also loved hunting and working in his vegetable garden.

Living family members include his wife of 64 years, Sharon Rover; son, Lanny (Shannon) Rover of Altoona; grandchildren: Brandon Rover and Stephanie Rover; two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and brother, Larry Rover of Independence, Missouri.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Rover; and two brothers: Robert Rover and Donald Rover.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
