Ernst comments on 9/11 anniversary

WASHINGTON — Iowa Senator Joni Ernst is remembering those who lost their lives as part of the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
“3000 of our countrymen were killed, forcing families to say goodbye to their loved ones far too soon. September 11, 2001 tested our nation in ways we could never have imagined. Yet, it also revealed the profound strength and resilience of the American spirit.”
Ernst says emergency personnel and others immediately responded to help those impacted by the attacks. “Without hesitation, first responders and medical professionals jumped to action and rushed into danger to save their fellow citizens. Everyday men and women became heroes in an instant, preventing even more attacked on our homeland.”
Ernst says the anniversary of the attacks should remind everyone of the importance of patriotism and freedom. “America stood united, unwavering in our resolve to never let fear dictate our future. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to never forget and always remember. We must regain our patriotism and be ever vigilant to safeguard the freedoms we too often take for granted.”
Ernst, a Republican from Red Oak, is a veteran of the Global War on Terrorism.
