Charles City Reaches Halfway Point for Payments on Main Street Rehab Project

The Charles City Main Street Rehab project hit a benchmark of sorts when the City Council Monday (08.19) night approved the latest payment to the contractors of just over $635,000.
That’s City Engineer John Fallis, who explained that the bulk of the latest payment covers work on the North Main/North Grand intersection.
Councilman Patrick Lumley expressed concern over the timeline of the Main Street repaving impacting the Charles City High School Homecoming Parade on September 13th, which is currently set to follow a route similar to the Fourth of July Parade.
Fallis didn’t rule that out that possibility while noting that the rehab project continues to be running on-schedule if not slightly ahead of schedule.
