Northeast Iowa School District Grieving Deaths of Two Students

A northeast Iowa school district is grieving the deaths of two students in two separate incidents earlier this week.
No details have been made available, but a North Fayette Valley (NFV) Community Schools Facebook post says that “with the passing of two NFV students this week, NFV Schools will have counselors for students on Friday, August 16th.”
Grief counselors will be at the West Union Public Library from 9 to 11:30 am Friday (08.16) morning and NFVCC building in Elgin from 12:30 to 3 pm Friday (08.16) afternoon. The post also indicates that an additional support session will be made available the week of August 19th, with date, time and location to be determined.
A Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post reads, “Our hearts go out to the two NFV families that had their world shattered this week, and we would like to express our deepest sympathy.”
Due to the circumstances, the Sheriff’s Office has decided to change their event on Saturday (08.17) from an afternoon swim to doing kickball on the ball diamonds at the West Union Rec Center instead. They’ll also grill hot dogs, have popsicles and a bouncy house, all free from noon to 3 pm.
Kids of all ages are invited to participate and play some kick ball against Sheriff’s Office employees. Spectators should bring lawn chairs.
