North Iowa Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Car

A North Iowa man is dead after he was hit by a car.
Mason City Police (MCPD) say officers responded to a collision between a car and a pedestrian at about 2:30 pm Monday (08.05) afternoon. The driver of the vehicle, Ginger Clausen of Mason City, was making a left turn from 7th Street SE onto South Federal Avenue and struck the pedestrian, James Grover, Sr., also of Mason City, who was walking eastbound, crossing South Federal Avenue on 7th Street.
Grover was transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center for treatment and later died as a result of his injuries. The investigation into the collision was aided by a passing motorist who was able to provide a dashcam video of the collision to MCPD.
The case has been reviewed by the Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s Office and Clausen will be charged with striking Grover.
MCPD was assisted at the scene by the Mason City Fire Department, the Iowa State Patrol, and several motorists who stopped to assist the involved parties prior to law enforcement’s arrival on scene.
