Benefit Swim Thursday (07.25) for Northeast Iowa Girls Injured in Tubing Accident

The New Hampton Swimming Pool will host a benefit swim Thursday (07.25) night on behalf of a pair of Northeast Iowa girls who were injured in a tubing accident.

Ashlyn and Delaney Busta of Lawler were involved in a devastating accident while tubing on the Little Turkey River near Waucoma in mid-July. Ashlyn Busta hit her head and was knocked unconscious. She is still hospitalized in Iowa City from a brain bleed, but family members are hopeful for a full recovery. Delaney injured her ankle but has been recovering at home.

As part of the community effort to help the family with medical expenses, there will be a late night swim from 8:30 to 10 pm Thursday night at the New Hampton municipal swimming pool. The public is asked to “Swim for Them” for $5 and to give a separate free will donation to the Busta Family upon entry.

Any checks can be made payable to “Ashlyn Busta Benefit.” An account has been set up for the family at BANK IOWA in Lawler.
