Carroll- The New Hampton Chickasaws exploded for an 9 run 6th inning to close the door on the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons in the opening round of the 2A state baseball tournament. New Hampton took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, but struggled with runners in scoring position. That is, until the sixth inning. The Falcons were able to scratch across a run in the top half of the frame when when Gabe Jacobsen singled home a run. But the Chickasaws were unfazed and came back with a massive offensive effort. New Hampton was lead by Kael Meyers who went 4 for 5 with four singles and three RBIs.

The Chickasaws will face off again in county rival Sumner-Fredericksburg in Thursday night’s semi-final game at 7:00pm. We’ll have coverage right here on 95.1 The Bull. Pregame will start around 6:40.
