Northeast Iowa Bridge Projects Held Up by High River Levels Move Forward

Held up by flooding for the past three weeks, plus high water levels prior to that, construction of a new bridge over the Mississippi River at Lansing is set to resume.
Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District office of the Iowa DOT says the suspension of work, which started in early June, is expected to come to end on Monday (07.22).
While that work gets ready to ramp back up, Hjelmstad says the wait continues for construction to begin for the new Iowa Highway 3 bridge over the Cedar River in Waverly.
High water levels of the Winnebago River also halted the eastbound Highway 122 bridge replacement on the westside of Mason City for several weeks, but Hjelmstad said suspension of that work came to an end earlier this week.
Hjelmstad also notes that crews were doing a deck pour Thursday (07.18) as part of the bridge replacement project on Iowa Highway 14 near Roseville, with a deck pour expected within the next couple of weeks for the U.S. Highway 18 bridge replacement near the Ionia turnoff.
