Northeast Iowa Road Construction Projects Starting Tuesday, Coming Weeks

The New Hampton Construction of the Iowa DOT has announced several construction projects slated to start in the coming days and weeks.

A bridge deck overlay for the Iowa 13 bridge over the Volga River, about four miles south of Iowa 56 in Clayton County, is slated to begin Tuesday (07.16). Temporary traffic signals will be in place to help direct you across the bridge, which will be reduced to one lane  with an 18-foot-2-inch lane-width restriction.

The project is targeted for completion by early October.

Beginning on Monday, July 22, expect a traffic pattern change near the Iowa 27/Iowa 58/Ridgeway Avenue intersection in Cedar Falls. Crews will switch the head-to-head traffic, currently on the westbound lanes of Ridgeway Avenue, to the eastbound lanes.

Construction work will then begin on the northbound lane of Nordic Drive and traffic will only be able to drive north on Nordic Drive in this area until the work is complete. Then, additional reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Ridgeway Avenue will occur as well as southbound lanes of Nordic Drive.

Completion is expected by late-September.

On August 1st, construction work to replace the Iowa 3 bridge over the Cedar River in Waverly will begin and continue until the fall of 2025, weather and river level permitting. Work will take place during the winter months when possible.

While the bridge is closed, you will follow a marked detour route using 10th Avenue Southwest and Cedar River Parkway. Pedestrian access to businesses east of the river in Waverly will be maintained.
