Floyd, Bremer, Fayette Counties to Share in $25 Million for Bridge Updates
A coalition of Floyd, Fayette, and Bremer counties, plus the City of Dubuque, will each share in $50 million in federal transportation funding.Â
The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) RAISE grants will enhance safety in urban neighborhoods and replace some 29 bridges across Northeast Iowa. The program was funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) supported by U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley in 2021.Â
Grassley said, “The health and wellbeing of our communities rely on sound transportation infrastructure. These federal resources will bolster public safety and make Northeast Iowa a better place to live. I’m glad to see Iowans’ hard-earned tax dollars return to our state.â€Â
Floyd, Bremer and Fayette counties will receive $25 million combined to replace bridges in obsolete or poor condition, with seven bridges located in Floyd County, five in Bremer County and 17 in Fayette County. Â
The City of Dubuque will receive $25 million for various projects including an overpass, roundabouts, street enhancements and a shared-use path.Â
