Charles City Party in the Park Kick Off: Take Two!

The weather forecast played party pooper for the first planned Party in the Park (PIP) in Charles City on May 31st. So, this Friday, June 21st, will now serve as the 2024 debut of the popular summertime tradition now in its 21st year.

Festivities run from 5 to 9 pm Friday in Central Park with free admission and live music from the Dick Danger Band, a funky, electrifying six-piece band out of the Des Moines area that plays Top 40 and R&B, anything from Bruno Mars to James Brown and Jimi Hendrix to Prince. They were voted the Best Local Band Runner-Up in Des Moines in 2020-21 by City View.

Chamber Director Mark Wicks says there are a host of kids activities, too.

Each PIP also comes with food and beverage vendors and a beer garden.

Special PIP tokens are used to purchase food, beverages or take part in some of the activities and are available onsite for $1 each The orange tokens are good at all four PIP events this year, as well as in future years.

Leftover tokens from 2023 are also still good, but any PIP tokens dated prior to last year are not.

The PIP postponed on May 31st has been rescheduled for July 12th.
