Northeast Iowa 19-Year-Old Clocked Going 100+ MPH Illustrates Growing Issue
A northeast Iowa 19-year-old was recently cited for traveling at more than 100 mph.
In a Facebook post, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office commented “Sunday fun day, we think not†after a female driver was clocked Sunday (04.28) going 103 mph in a 55 mph zone. The driver stated that she was frustrated and not paying attention to how fast she was driving.Â
In addition to her speeding ticket, she was also cited for reckless driving and not carrying a valid driver’s license.
It’s another example of an alarming trend of Iowa drivers traveling at excessive speeds over 100 mph.
Trooper Tom Williams, with the Iowa State Patrol (ISP) Mason City District, said last June (2023) was a prime example of the increasing issue.Â
Williams added that one driver was going 150 mph last May (2023), but you don’t have to be going that fast to be in danger of losing your license.
In the first two months of 2024, the ISP wrote 117 tickets to drivers going more than 100 mph.Â
