Charles City Mobile Food Pantry Sees Increase in Numbers Served

The Charles City Mobile Food Pantry (CCMFP) continues to see a rise in the number of households in need of their service.

Coordinator Jenn Burton says there’s been a noticeable jump since winter.

Burton says the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, which supplies the food to the CCMFP, is planning for 255 households during their first Wednesday of the month distribution from 5 to 6 pm this Wednesday (05.01) at the Youth Enrichment Center (YEC) on the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

In an effort to increase their reach to people in need, the mobile food pantry began a collaboration in November for a delivery service through St. John Evangelical Church in Charles City.

Burton says the mobile food pantry is available to any area household as long as you reside in Iowa and meet one of three ways of eligibility.

Burton says your eligibility can be confirmed while you’re in your car waiting in line for your food, but be sure to have a valid ID.
