A north Iowa man has been sentenced to over three decades in prison for giving drugs to minors and sexually abusing them.

34-year-old Christian Vorland of Clear Lake pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of distributing drugs to someone under 18. He also entered an Alford plea to one count of domestic abuse assault.

Vorland was arrested for giving methamphetamine to someone under 15 three times between July and September 2022 and once in April 2023, sexually abusing a victim between 14- and 15-years-old five times between July 2022 and June 2023, and punching a juvenile female in the face on June 8, 2023.

Law enforcement says all the crimes occurred at a home in Clear Lake that was within 1,000 feet of a school.

Vorland has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for each count of sex abuse and five years for each count of distributing drugs; to be served consecutively for a total of 35 years. He was also given a concurrent sentence of 30 days in jail for the domestic assault charge and must sign up with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry upon his release from prison.
