New Hampton School District Property Tax Levy Hearing Tuesday Night (03.26_

The New Hampton School Board will hold a public hearing Tuesday (03.26) night on the proposed property tax levy rate for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

While the Grand Total Levy Rate could go from about $10.87 per $100,000 of taxable property valuation to about $11.37, the amount of property tax itself would drop from $594 down to $527 due to a change coming in the state rollback. Currently, on a $100,000 home, the state rollback taxes at only 54% of the assessed value or $54,000. For the fiscal year starting July 1st, that state rollback drops to 46% of $100,000 assessed valuation, or $46,000.

The public hearing on the proposed property tax rate is set for 6:30 pm in the High School FCS room.

The public hearing for the 2024-25 fiscal year school budget will be held later in the month.

Superintendent Jay Jurrens notes that their budget will benefit from an increase in the district’s enrollment.

Each student currently translates to about $7,600 towards the school district’s operating funds.
