One dead, one injured after collision near Clarksville

A Parkersburg man is dead following a collision in rural Clarksville.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that 31-year-old Brady Lee Cashatt of Parkersburg was northbound on Quail Avenue in a Dodge Dart when he failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with 57-year-old Mark John Behrens of Carroll who was westbound on Highway 3 in a Peterbilt semi.

The collision sent both vehicles rolling with Behren’s semi coming to rest in the ditch and Cashatt’s vehicle coming to rest in the travel portion of Highway 3.

Cashatt and Behrens were both transported to Waverly Health Center with Cashatt later succumbing to his injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by Clarksville Fire, EMS & PD, Allison Fire, EMS, Butler County Sheriff’s Office and McDivitt’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
