DOT Seeks Public Input on Roadway Improvements in Osage Starting Thursday (02.15)

The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking public input on proposed roadway improvements in Osage.

The DOT is offering virtual or in-person public information meetings for possible improvements on Iowa Highway 9 from Kirkwood Avenue to 1st Street, and along U.S. Highway 218 from Poplar Street to Iowa 9.

Additional proposed upgrades in Osage include sidewalk replacement and curb installation from Kirkwood Avenue to South 14th Street and along U.S. 218 from Iowa 9 to North Corporate Limits. Proposed sidewalk improvements comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, with construction is expected to begin in 2025.

The DOT will host an in-person meeting this Thursday (Feb. 15) and citizens can drop in anytime between 5 and 6:30 pm at the Osage Public Safety Center at 432 Main Street. There will be no formal presentation, but information will be provided about the project, and you can talk through your ideas with DOT staff and consultants. The meeting space is accessible for people with disabilities.

There is also a virtual presentation which can be viewed anytime from noon Thursday, February 15 until Friday, February 23rd. Feedback and comments only are due by February 23rd.
