Installation of Speed Cameras Begins in Charles City

Installation of speed cameras in Charles City has begun.
Police Chief Hugh Anderson says while the “Photo Enforced†camera signs are up, the cameras themselves are not.
Anderson says their main goal of the four speed cameras being put into service is reducing speeding, especially in areas near Charley Western Trail crossings.
The City had hoped to have the devices in place and in use by the beginning of the new year. However, the City’s official authorization for the speed cameras by the Iowa DOT held up the project.Â
Crews began site preparation to install the cameras last week.
