Secondary Road Crews Battle Winter Elements Most of Last Week

Secondary road crews had their work cut out for them last week.

During Monday’s (01.15) meeting of the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors, County Engineer Roman Lensing said the battle began Monday (01.08) prepping to remove snow and drifting snow that persisted into the weekend.

Dealing with Mother Nature and Old Man Winter, required an “all hands on deck” approach to man snow plows and maintainers.

Like many crews, Chickasaw County had to pull snow equipment off the roads Friday (01.12) and Saturday (01.13) when conditions made it too difficult to keep up. Lensing said crews were out this week touching up areas.

Snow isn’t the only battle for the Secondary Roads department. Lensing informed Supervisors of a rash of stop signs being stolen in the Fredericksburg area.

Anyone with information on stolen stop signs is asked to contact Lensing or the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.
