FCMC Birth Center celebrates 100th Baby delivered in 2023

Floyd County Medical Center has announced the 100th baby delivered in the Charles City hospital’s Birth Center for 2023.Â
Scarlett, daughter of Sydney and Ben Hartogh of Osage, was born December 27th as the FCMC Birth Center continues to surpass previous totals and nationwide trends of declining maternal health options. The hospital says 103 babies in all were delivered in 2023.
Heather La Police, RN, Birth Center Director, said, “As many hospitals are forced to close their labor and delivery units, Floyd County Medical Center continues to see growth and remains committed to providing quality, patient centered prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care to our communities and the communities around us. We have an amazing team here that provides excellent care and it shows.â€
Danielle Wadsworth, ARNP, Certified Nurse Midwife, added. “Surpassing our goal of 100 births in 2023 is a big accomplishment, and a reflection of the great care that is being provided here at Floyd County Medical Center.â€Â
FCMC’s Birth Center offers three delivering Family Practice providers and two Certified Nurse Midwives, in addition to a team of experienced, caring nurses, lactation consultants and support staff, to provide safe, compassionate care to area families.
The FCMC Birth Center also recently celebrated its first birth for 2024 when Nikita and Logan Papousek of New Hampton welcomed their son, Kaiser Matthew, to the world on January 1st.
