Charles City to “Take the Plunge” on Pool Repairs
Looking to keep the Lions Field municipal swimming pool “afloat†another couple of decades, the Charles City City Council Wednesday (01.03) night approved moving forward with financing to fix up the facility, now almost 30-years-old.
The Council has authorized City Administrator Steve Diers to pursue borrowing up to $910,000 for the repairs.
Before making the motion to finance the pool repairs, Councilman Patrick Lumley said he felt it was a top priority for the City.
If things proceed as expected, Park-Rec Director Tyler Mitchell said the pool repairs would begin this August.
Mitchell told the Council that the Park-Rec Board is also in the process of forming fundraising committees to pursue adding amenities like a splash pad.Â
