James C. “Jim” Folkers age 75 of New Hampton, IA, formerly of Lawler, IA, died Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Linn Haven Rehab & Healthcare in New Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler with Rev. Nick Radloff celebrating the Mass.

Interment will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Lawler.

Friends may greet the family from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service, Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler.

Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton have been entrusted with arrangements.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
