New Hampton’s Winter Takes Wartburg to DIII Football Semis for Second Straight Year

For the second straight year, a New Hampton native has coached Wartburg College to the Division III national playoff semifinals.
Chris Winter’s Knights rallied from down by 18 points in the second half Saturday (12.02) at home to Wisconsin-Whitewater and beat the Warhawks 31-28.Â
With the win, Wartburg moves to 13-0 and on to the semi-finals this Saturday (12.09) hosting top seeded and defending national champion, North Central. Kickoff is set for 2:30 pm in Waverly.
The 13-0 Cardinals advanced with a 55-42 victory over Wisconsin-Lacrosse this past Saturday (12.02).Â
Wartburg lost in the semi-finals last year to Mount Union, 34-31, the Knight’s only loss of the season.
