New Hampton’s New Garbage Bins Not So New?

An update to a story we brought you Monday (11.27).

We originally reported, based on information from the City of New Hampton Facebook page, that the new garbage bins for refuse collection were to be delivered to residents between November 30th and December 2nd.

A City updated posted on Facebook later on Monday indicated that several of the 65-gallon garbage bins were delivered to New Hampton residents this past weekend by Jendro Sanitation, the City’s waste collection contractor. However, there was also an issue with the condition of the bins being distributed.

Monday’s post reads, “City officials have reached out to Jendro and made them aware that the quality of the bins do not meet the expectations of the agreement. Jendro will be replacing any damaged, dirty, cracked or non-closing lids.”

Citizens are also asked to contact City Hall to request a replacement bin. If you have not received your bin yet, the remaining bins will be delivered this weekend.

In the meantime, please continue to use yellow bags this week, November 28th through November 30th.

The City of New Hampton apologizes for the inconvenience and will be in communication with Jendro Sanitation.

Here is our original story:

New garbage cans for an automated refuse collection program will be delivered in New Hampton later this week.

A City says its waste contractor, Jendro Sanitation, will be delivering the 65-gallon garbage carts November 30th through December 2nd.

Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says the new trash collection system will officially go into effect December 1st, but residents won’t start paying for it until next year.

Schwickerath adds that, unfortunately, after advice from the State, the City had to pass on the possibility of offering a discount for citizens 65-and-older.

The City says that the garbage collection schedule will not change with the new system.

Refuse bags are still available for purchase if residents have more trash than can fit in the 65-gallon bin.
