Trial for North Iowa Man Accused of Child Sex Abuse Delayed to Next Year

Trial for a north Iowa man accused of child sex abuse has been delayed until next year.Â
The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Richard Bush II of Plainfield in April on charges of continuous sex abuse of a child, second-degree sexual abuse, and lascivious acts with a child, all felonies. He also faces one count each of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and dissemination/exhibition of obscene material to a minor.Â
According to court documents, the victim told authorities in August of 2022 she was sexually assaulted by Bush when she was under 14-years-old.Â
Bush has pleaded not guilty and his trial was scheduled for December 5th in Bremer County District Court. However, Monday (11.20), the defense and prosecution mutually agreed that the trial be rescheduled and it has been continued to February 27, 2024.Â
Bush remains in the Bremer County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
