Three Candidates for Two Seats on Charles City School Board

Three candidates seek two seats on the Charles City School Board in Tuesday’s (11.07) election.
Pat Rottinghaus is the lone incumbent seeking re-election after current Board member Janiece Bergland decided not to run for another four-year term herself. Also on the ballot are Bruce Koebrick and Dara Jaeger.Â
Rottinghaus says one of the biggest challenges for school districts is managing finances to provide programs for students and retain teachers.
As Board chair this school year, Rottinghaus is fully supportive of passing the $28.5 million bond referendum to revitalize the High School.
Koebrick says if the measure is approved by voters and he’s elected to the School Board, he’ll work to ensure things are done in a fiscally responsible manner. If the bond fails, it’ll mean a re-evaluation of what to do next while avoiding past missteps.
Jaeger, who also sees merit in the bond referendum, says she’ll bring a commonsense approach to the Board.
The top two vote-getters on Tuesday will fill the two seats on the Charles City School Board.
