Charles City Man Pleads Guilty in Child Sex Abuse Case

A Charles City man accused of sexually abusing a child has agreed to plead guilty to three charges.
Charles City Police arrested 34-year-old Daniel Hibner in March after a 5-to-7-year-old victim reported alleged abuse to a forensic investigator at the Allen Child Protection Center in Waterloo. The incidents are believed to have occurred while Hibner lived with the victim at a residence in Charles City.
Hibner was originally charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony, and was scheduled for trial on Tuesday (10.31). However, he agreed to plead guilty to three counts of lascivious acts with a child, all Class C felonies.Â
Hibner’s sentencing date has been set for January 8th in Floyd County District Court.
