Charles City School Board Candidates Address Issues in Forum

The three candidates vying for two seats on the Charles City School Board addressed district issues during a candidate forum Wednesday night (10.11).
The Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce and American Association of University Women (AAUW) hosted the candidates at the Charles City Senior Center, including incumbent Pat Rottinghaus and challengers Bruce Koebrick and Dara Jaeger.Â
Each is largely in favor of passage of the $28.5 million bond referendum to revitalize the High School, though Koebrick has some reservations.
Rottinghaus waived the flag for the performing arts auditorium.
Jaeger said she sees the merits with the bond.
Rottinghaus touted her experience and wants to see the school district continue the progress she’s seen in her four years on the School Board.
Koebrick said he’s running for his four kids and serving on the School Board is another way for him to put his family first.
Jaeger said she brings a practical, open-minded approach to the Board.
The top two vote-getters on November 7th will fill the two seats on the School Board, which will have at least one new member after current Board member Janiece Bergland decided not to seek re-election.
