The second of two new “Town of Colors†murals in Charles City for 2023 could be finished by this weekend.
Artist Molly Keen is painting the mural on the south side of the building that houses The Insurance Office. She says working along Clark Street has given her a chance to learn more about Charles City.
Keen says painting a mural on the brick wall has its challenges.
Keen says, weather permitting, she should finish her mural by this weekend. That is, when she feels it’s complete.
Keen says her mural, which runs almost the entire length of the building, is a good-sized project, although her largest is a five-story mural in Indonesia.
Last week, artist Andrea Erhardt painted a mural on the north side of the Furniture Barn, along South Grand Avenue. When Keen’s is complete, the “Town of Colors†murals will total seven in all since its inception in 2021.
