Pursuit Starts in Mason City, Ends in Floyd County, Three Arrested
Three people were arrested following a law enforcement pursuit that started in Mason City and ended in Floyd County.
Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley says they received a report of a possible vehicle burglary on South Pierce Avenue shortly before midnight Thursday (09.07). When an officer encountered the alleged vehicle in question, the vehicle sped off with three occupants inside.
With speeds reaching well over 100 mph, MCPD continued chasing the suspects until Nora Springs, handing the pursuit off to the Iowa State Patrol and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle crashed out near Rudd Park Road and Highway 18 and two of the subjects fled on foot.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Luke Chatfield says the search for suspects, which included Floyd County K9, Sirius, and the Mitchell County Sheriff’s K9, Rev, lasted about 90 minutes before all three subjects were in custody, including one who was picked up after he tried to flag down a ride along Highway 18.
Mason City Police have charged Jordan Brown of Glenwood, Illinois, and Larry Carthan of Mason City, both 18, and 20-year-old Antwine Wilson of East St. Louis, Illinois, with third-degree burglary of a motor vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor. Wilson, the driver, was also charged with felony eluding.
Brown and Carthan both bonded out of the Cerro Gordo County Jail on on Monday (09.11) by posting $2,000 bail. Wilson was released after posting $5,000 bail on Wednesday (09.13).
