BREAKING: Burn Ban in Effect for Floyd County, Others

With almost all of Floyd County in extreme drought, a burn ban has been enacted as of noon Thursday.

Floyd County Emergency Management Director Jason Webster submitted the County’s request to the State Fire Marshal’s Office Thursday morning.

The burn ban will remain in place until the County notifies the State Fire Marshal that “such conditions dangerous to life or property no longer exist.”

Burn bans alo went into effect in Bremer and Butler counties at 6 am Thursday morning.  Hancock, Worth and Fayette counties put burn bans in place on Tuesday at 8 am, noon and 4 pm respectively.

There are 11 counties total in Iowa with burn bans now in effect.

This is the second burn ban this year for Floyd County. A burn ban in April lasted for a week due to dry weather conditions.
