Extreme Heat Forcing Early Dismissals for Area Schools

This week’s record-breaking heat is forcing several area schools to dismiss classes early.

Due to the extreme heat, the Charles City School District will be dismissing three hours early on Wednesday (08.23) and Thursday (08.24). Lunch will be served both days before dismissal.

In the Osage School District, Lincoln Elementary will dismiss at 12:10 pm and the Middle/High School will dismiss at 12:25 pm Wednesday and Thursday.

Nashua-Plainfield will dismiss two hours early Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to the weather.

Several schools already have early-outs built into their schedules for the first three days of the school year. Planned early-outs for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday include  the New Hampton, Turkey Valley, and Sumner-Fredericksburg school disticts.
