Just over eight months since they began operating out of the former Charles City Middle School building, The Learning Center (TLC) is ready to show off the childcare service’s new surroundings.
Until December of last year, TLC’s home was in the former Fareway grocery store building just north of Central Park. In that facility, they could only accommodate about 85 kids.Â
That’s TLC Board President Lisa Garden, who says sustaining the operations until they found a new home came with various challenges.
TLC can now serve over 175 children in the remodeled 1970s portion of the former Middle School, which the public is invited to see during their Grand Opening from 5:30 to 7 pm Tuesday (08.15) evening.
Garden says activities include a special reception at 6 pm honoring the volunteer service of Shirley Kelly.
