Chickasaw County EMS Moves Into New Home

The Chickasaw County EMS department is now in its new home.

On Monday, the County closed on the purchase of the property at 204 East Prospect Street in New Hampton to provide an official home for the EMS department and its two New Hampton-based ambulances. Buying the land and building from Jeremy McGrath, the County’s previous private ambulance service provider, will cost about $325,000.

EMS Director Joel Knutson says it’s an important development for the public ambulance service that just started January 1st.

Knutson adds that their new home will also eventually include office space, a breakroom and crew quarters.

For the first seven months of service, the County ran its two ambulances out of the garage space next to the New Hampton Police Department. Those garages have been cleared out, with ambulances, equipment and supplies now relocated to the new EMS building.

The County also recently put a third rig into operation that is based at the Fredericksburg Fire Station.
