Santa’s Shine and Show Takes to the Streets in Charles City Saturday (07.15)

The Christmas spirit will be alive and well Saturday (July 15) in Charles City.

For the second year in a row, Santa’s Shine and Show, presented by the Charles City Rotary Club, returns to Main Street.

That’s Rotary’s Larry Pump, who says North Main Street will be blocked off starting at 7 am, with classic cars, trucks and motorcycles expected to roll in soon after.

The car show officially runs noon to 2 pm Saturday and Santa will make an appearance. Pump adds there will be food trucks at Central Park and awards will be handed out at 2 pm.

The Charles City Farmers Market will be open from 9 am to noon and several downtown stores will have specials as part of the Christmas in July retail promotion. The Charles City BBQ Challenge has been canceled due to low numbers of participation.

The forecast for Saturday calls for mostly sunny highs in the low to mid 80s, with a chance of rain late afternoon..

While North Main Street will be blocked off in downtown Charles City Saturday, Clark Street will remain open for cross traffic. Motorists can also make left and right turns at the intersection of North Main and Riverside Drive.
