Charles City to Appear in Iowa PBS TV Special Friday (07.14) Night

Charles City is expected to be among the schools featured in an Iowa PBS TV special airing this weekend.
The 2023 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase will air on Friday, July 14 at 8:30 p.m. The two-hour highlights program showcases the opening number and finale, highlights from the various medleys performed by the students and the announcement of the Triple Threat Award.Â
It’s unknown how much “screen time†Charles City will get, but before the original live performances June 1st, assistant drama director Erika Joiner noted that they were in elite company.
Charles City also had four performers as part of the Triple Threat showcase, including recently-graduated Teagan Prigge, Sophie Jensen and Anders Haglund, plus Kaity Heckers, who will be a senior this school year. Charles City’s Hannah DeVore was one of only four students in the state to serve as assistant stage manager for the original production.
The highlights program will be rebroadcast Sunday, July 16 at 1 p.m. and be available for a limited time for on-demand streaming on iowapbs.org and the PBS App. Additional ways to watch are included with this story on our station website.
In addition to its statewide broadcast, Iowa PBS .1 is available to livestream on iowapbs.org/watch, pbs.org/livestream, the PBS Video App and YouTube TV. Iowa PBS programs, behind-the-scenes extras and more can be enjoyed on iowapbs.org, Facebook and YouTube.
