Nashua Area EMS to Launch Saturday

Over nine months in the making, the new Nashua Area EMS is set to begin serving the City of Nashua.

Zenda Vikturek is the service director for the ambulance, who says they’ll run one rig with enough volunteers to operate close to 24/7.

Vikturek says a handful of nurses have also pledged their help and everyone is looking forward to launching their service this Saturday.

The City decided to form its own ambulance service after they opted  against funding Chickasaw County’s new public ambulance service, citing concerns over increased costs without having an ambulance based in Nashua, the County’s second largest city.  By December 31st, the City had no official ambulance coverage when the County’s contract with the previous private provider expired.

Since January 1st, Nashua has been getting temporary coverage from AMR Ambulance after reaching an agreement with the City and Floyd County.

Starting Saturday (07.01), Nashua has its very own local ambulance service.
