Construction Underway for Wind Turbines in Chickasaw CountyÂ

In the works for over a half-decade, crews have begun construction in preparation to install 66 wind turbines as part of the Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center.
Isaac Lamppa is the project developer for parent company, Invenergy. He says work continues on a substation, about half of the access roads to turbine sites have been built, and nine foundations have been completed in advance of the actual installation of the turbines themselves.
Lamppa says their target is to have all 66 turbines up by the end of this year, as long as the weather cooperates. Thus far, conditions have been beneficial to their progress.
Lamppa adds that wind energy production won’t go live until early next year.
The wind turbine project was originally proposed in 2016 according to Dan Litchfield, Vice-President of Renewable Development for Invenergy. He says they were able to get 100% voluntary easement agreements with the landowners to build the turbines.
